After a long break, it is almost that time again to get revved up for the start of another V8 season and I am absolutely edging to get back into it!! I feel re-energized and ready to get back in the race car and work towards winning some races in ‘09’.

Re-energized and Ready to Go!

After a long break, it is almost that time again to get revved up for the start of another V8 season and I am absolutely edging to get back into it!! I feel re-energized and ready to get back in the race car and work towards winning some races in ‘09’. 

I’ve really enjoyed having a 3 month break. It’s always great to spend time away from the racing scene at the end of the year. I got to catch up with my family, friends and sink back a few coldies ……… all the things that you tend to miss out on throughout the V8 season.   

The biggest news from the break is that I am now engaged!! In true romantic style I proposed to my longtime girlfriend, Alana, in Fiji. We are planning on getting married in the early part of 2010. We had a great trip and ventured to some of the most amazing islands you could ever imagine.

Although I’ve been on break, many of the teams including GRM have been non-stop building new cars and developing parts for our first test day at Winton Raceway on Monday 9th March. My team-mate, Michael Caruso will start the year in a brand new chassis that was built in-house at the GRM workshop. I will be using the car that I debuted at Phillip Island last year. As for our racecar livery nothing much has changed, we still have our loyal sponsors of Valvoline and Cummins supporting us through this difficult financial period. 

2009 is going to be another tough year for GRM, but if everyone in our workshop pushes to get the best out of themselves and the equipment I have no doubt that we can establish ourselves as a front running team. 

I’ve been back in the workshop with the boys trying to help create new ideas to get GRM to the front of the pack on a more consistent basis. Also, I am physically fitter than I have ever been before.

I am looking forward to giving it to some of the more established teams this year! It all starts again in 3 weeks time at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide. I was 2nd overall at this event last year and I am aiming to go one better in 2009!
