Speculation over the future of the fledgling Honda F1 team is over with the announcement in the UK at one minute past 12 this morning that former Honda F1 team-principal Ross Brawn has reached an agreement with Honda and Mercedes Benz to be on the grid in Melbourne later this month.

On the announcement Brawn also confirmed that both of Honda's 2008 drivers, Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello would be with the team as their lead drivers in 2009, citing their experience as a great benefit for the team as it establishes itself in their debut year.

Brawn went on to thank members of the Brackley team who stuck by the Honda F1 project throughout the English winter and advised that announcements on the teams sponsors, build and testing will be revealled in the coming weeks.

Despite missing all of the 2009 pre-season testing to date, Brawn GP is expecting to reveal their car for the first time at testing in Barcelona (March 9-12) and Jerez (March 15-17).

More news at it comes to hand.
