Ben Spies gave Americans what America is all about, hope and glory. What a faultless performance, what a perfectly executed task, what an inspiration. There is little to say about this double victory other than perfect. It must be exactly what everyone watching could have hoped for. Ben’s father, who watches from a distances, described both races as the proudest moment and something Ben had worked very hard for.

Of course it was not what Ducati wanted. Michel Fabrizio continued his great form and is really carrying the hopes of Italy as their star in SBK. Noriyuki Haga on the other hand was beaten up after his practice crash and had to battle for minor points, still enough though to maintain a comfortable lead as they head to Misano.

Honda’s challenge looked strong with their quiet achiever, Jonathan Rea now moving into 4th place in the Championship. I felt sorry for Leon Haslam when he lost the front and crashed whilst chasing Johnny but now the Factory Honda’s are getting into their stride, Leon’s going to have to push harder on his private Honda and things like that will happen. I feel at this stage of the year, Leon should be on a factory Honda in 2010.

What about the rest... Max Biaggi’s ‘hot and cold’ run continues. It’s not my place to be critical but Max was hot and cold in 500GP and MotoGP. If his team mate can stay on the Aprilia, I think Shinya Nakano could well be Max’s main rival. However, the Aprilia’ stook a big step forward at Miller and I really hope that continues next time out in Misano.

It’s strange how a rider can make such a difference to a team. Suzuki are almost lost without Max Neukirchner. The good thing is Max is on the mend and should be at Misano but only watching. Hopefully he will be back on the bike soon.

Everyone has a little time to catch their breath now before Misano in 2 week stime. The most interesting thing is can Ben Spies fight back. Again, Ducati have so much experience in their garage that I doubt they could let 53 points dwindle away. However, this is motorcycle racing and anything can happen. Nori was lucky to get points in America, he could have easily broken a wrist or a collarbone. He could fall again in practice at Misano, but so could any of the riders.
