Heaphy confident but cautious
“Everything’s going okay, but I’m a little concerned about tyre wear,” Team Mitsubishi Ralliart boss Allan Heaphy admitted post-qualifying at the inaugural Eastern Creek Australian Six Hour.
“This track is particularly hard on right front tyres and I believe we could be looking at a wear rate of one or two right side tyres every hour.. “It will be an interesting race. We’ll be conservative to start – we don’t need to lead the race from the outset - and let someone else set the pace. As long as we’re on the lead lap into the last hour, that’s what matters.”
And as for a race pace. “Could be a 47.. Wall’s are quick, but so too Bowey and the Quinns, we’ll just have to see how it plays out.”
