HOUR 1 Update

-    Stuart Kostera has led every lap from pole-position, and currently holds an eight second lead over David Wall as teams ready for the first pitstop of the race.

-    After an initial burst of near-qualifying speed, race pace at the front of the field has slowed by two to three seconds a lap, with leaders running in the 46 and 47s.

-    Mathew Cherry sits third ahead of Tony Quinn and Inky Tulloch, while John Bowe dropped back from third at the start to be currently running eighth.

-    The Class B battle between the HSVs of Christian D’Agostin and Barrie Nesbit has raged since the start, while Class C is being led by Jake Camilleri.

-    The Holden Astra of Garry Holt has been running almost five seconds a lap faster than its Class D rivals to hold a comfortable lead, while the sole Class E entry – the Justin Mathews Toyota Yaris – currently sits 23rd outright.

-    Dramas have beset the Terry Conroy Honda Integra, which started the race from pitlane after the bonnet flew up in the morning warmup and smashed the windscreen. Rules state that cars must start the race with a windscreen, so the team ran around slowly on the first lap and pitted to remove a temporary glad-wrap front screen as well as the rear hatch section. After a further pitstop to tape down the damaged bonnet, the team report that the car is running faultlessly.

-    Problems also beset the Ted Robinson FPV, with driver Rod Barrett pitting on lap seven with another turbo failure. After running faultlessly for 12 Hours at Bathurst, the team have had two fail in two days, and are currently trying to find the cause of the problem before replacing the turbo unit.

-    The second of the Osbourne Motorsport cars has also visited pitlane, with driver Graham Moore reporting a vibration in the little Mazda, believed to have been caused by a wheel-bearing issue.
