[6-HOUR] Hour 2 Update

Hour 2 Update

-    Stuart Kostera and Warren Luff tightened their stranglehold on the 2010 Dial Before You Dig Australian Six Hour during the second hour, extending their lead to over a minute. Luff took over the car from Kostera after one hour and fifteen minutes, with the Team Mitsubishi crew completing a front-right tyre change.

-    The first round of pitstops were spread out over some laps, with David Wall and Inky Tulloch both taking turns leading the event before pitting. Tulloch completed six more laps than his team-mate Kostera, with his opening stint lasting 85 minutes.

-    John Bowe spent a further 20 minutes at the helm of the BMW 335i, before handing the Class B leader over to car owner Peter O’Donnell at the one hour and 45 minute mark. At the end of the hour, the BMW sits in eighth outright.

-    The biggest news of the hour amongst the outright contenders was a black flag for Des Wall, after the Alan East Motorsport team’s car controller failed to remain in front of the car for the duration of the first pitstop.

-    After taking over from his father Tony, Klark Quinn moved up through to field to be running second at the end of the hour, ahead of Steve Jones (in the Inky Tulloch car) and a double-stinting Mark Brame.

-    Gavin Bullas sits in eighth after a spin towards the end of the hour.

-    Class C was blown wide-open after Scott Nicholas lost time with a broken gear shifter. The Allan Sheppard BMW now leads the class by a lap.

-    The Astra continues to lead Class D with Ryan McLeod at the wheel, despite pitting five laps earlier than planned with a tyre problem.

-    The Dean Neville Falcon also suffered from tyre problems in the Century 21 GT, while the HSVs in Class B were also delayed during the hour – the Briffa VE requiring a new fuel pump, and the Donut King entry also losing time with mechanical issues.
