[6-HOUR] Hour 3 Update
by Stefan Bartholomaeus
- The third hour of the 2010 Dial Before You Dig Australian Six Hour was dominated by pit lane action, with a second round of pitstops for the lead contenders
- Stuart Kostera led the race at the end of the hour - almost two laps up on the second placed Lancer Evo X of Peter Conroy. The TMR crew pitted the dominant car for the second time after more than two and a half hours, with Warren Luff handing over to Kostera.
- The VIP Petfoods Evo IX of Tony and Klark Quinn inherited the lead, before themselves pitting after 87 laps. A longer than planned stop dropped them once again to second place, but the delay became inconsequential just a handul of laps latter, when Tony returned to the pits with a spark plug issue.
- Des Wall ended the hour third, ahead of the Steve Jones/Inky Tulloch TMR Evo and the Gavin Bullas/Barton Mawer/Jim Hunter WRX.
- The third of the TMR cars lost time thanks to a minor spin from Glyn Crimp early in the hour.
- Peter O’Donnell continued to keep the Class B lead in the BMW 335i, while Scott Nicolas retook the lead in Class C after their earlier issue.
- The Garry Holt/Ryan McLeod Astra pushed into the top ten outright during the hour, and continues to dominate Class D.
- Black flags were issued to the #97 Renault Clio and the #16 Toyota Yarris during the hour for pit lane infringements.
