Wagga Junior Road Racer Brandon Demmery had his most successful weekend ever at the 4th and final round of the Victorian State Road Racing Titles held at Broadford in Victoria. Brandon managed his first ever clean sweep, with pole position and 5 wins from 5 starts. The win secured him 2nd place in the title and a great round win to top off his last ever ride on the 70cc bike. Brandon will finish off 2010 on the 80cc bike to get as much practice in before the start of the 2011 season.

The weather on all 3 days was difficult to read, with showers coming and going throughout the day on Friday, severely restricting the track time, and practice time on Friday.

Qualifying on Saturday morning was on a very wet track. Brandon managed to qualify 1st in the 70cc class and 3rd outright. The front row start for the weekends racing was a great advantage, allowing him to run with the older and faster guys on the 80cc bikes. He was able to draft them and learn a lot about their lines and braking points.

Brandon wants to congratulate Patrick Griffin on taking the 70cc title. Brandon has enjoyed racing with Patrick all year and thinks Patrick thoroughly deserves the title.

Brandon’s biggest threats on the weekend were again Patrick Griffin and also new comer Lawson Walters. Lawson has only a few races under his belt on the road bike, but has an impressive resume coming from his years of dirt track and speedway. Lawson will be a bigger challenge for Brandon as he gains more and more experience on the tar tracks.

Throughout the year, Brandon has had support and encouragement from many people. A big thank you must go out to Andrew and Karen Gosling from TBG Sports for the unending support for Brandon. Cole Odendaal, Chas Hern, Shannon Johnson, Ross Gurd, Bryce Van Hoof and Marcus Simpson have all had a little word in Brandon’s ear offering advice and tips on how to ride faster. These guys are all busy at the track, and we thank them for taking the time to chat with Brandon.
