Nominations continue ahead of WSS 'Speed Week'
Dec 16, 2011

Nominations continue to pile up for the 2011/12 Hi-Tec Oils World Series Sprintcars Speedweek, including Sprintcar legend, Garry Brazier.

Brazier, a former WSS Champion and 6-time Australian Sprintcar Champion, has never before contested the Speedweek mini-series starting on Boxing Day at Speedway City.

A host of South Australian locals and interstate drivers will also hit the road looking to dethrone reigning 2-time Speedweek champion, Jason Johnson.

A host of talented speedsters will join Brazier as non-contracted nominations, including Shaun Bradford and Carl Dowling of WA, Matt Young and Jeremy Cross from NSW, Warenne Ekins and Jamie McInnes from NT plus SA locals Luke Dillon, Matt Egel, Jamie Cobby, Brad Keller and Daniel Pestka.

Two South Australians in particular will be hoping for a heavy points haul during Speedweek; WSS veteran Trevor Green and contracted rookie Dylan Jenkin are both riding high on the championship standings and will use extensive local knowledge to move closer to the leaders.

The four spots above them are occupied by a supremely talented collection of drivers: former Australian Champion James McFadden, Dubbo feature winner Ian Madsen, reigning WSS champ Robbie Farr, and reigning Speedweek champion Jason Johnson.

Of the foursome, Jason Johnson strikes the most fear into the minds of his rivals, having dominated the 7-night stretch over the last two seasons. Johnson (fourth place) is a mere 56 points behind McFadden (first place), and will be difficult to catch if he sits atop the table when the calendar ticks over to 2012.

Hi-Tec Oils World Series Sprintcars will celebrate the Speedweek festivities when they visit Adelaide's Rundle Mall on December 21 2011.

The mall display will feature Sprintcars, driver appearances, giveaways, promo girls and more ahead of the Boxing Day round of World Series Sprintcars at Speedway City, Virginia.

After two weeks of rest and a Christmas break, the Hi-Tec Oils WSS field will be itching to hit the track in a packed Speedway City on boxing night.  Gates open at 4pm, racing starts at 6pm.  Tickets are available online at http://www.speedwaycity.com.au/tickets.asp.
