What a year! The final race of 2008!!
What a year! The final race of 2008… Now all that is left is the last round ever at Oran Park, in fact the very venue where I took out my first ever V8 Supercar round win!
As exciting as this weekend will be, it brings me great sadness to think that Oran Park will remain just a memory, and one of the greats of Australian Motorsport, Mark Skaife will no longer be competing. Skaifey has been an inspiration to my career over the years and has done so much for the sport. I remember when he came and congratulated me personally on my drive in last year’s Oran Park round… One of my proudest moments!
2007… The heavens opened, the rain came bucketing down and I was starting in fourth position chasing my first V8 win. The lights went out and race three was on… After the second corner I was in the lead and never looked back. I led the race from start to finish and crossed the line to hear the boys roar, and I could see them cheering over pit wall as I passed. We had done it… and now we want to do it again.
Bring it on… I’m pumped!
On a another note, good luck to Skaifey for his final V8 race!
