CRAMBROOK IS CHAMPION!
Falcon driver Layton Crambrook held on to a slender points lead heading into the final race of the final round of the Yokohama V8 Ute Series, but needed to work his way through the field from the middle of the pack to defeat title rival Kim Jane who was starting from the front row of the grid.
Needing to finish inside the top eight if Jane won, Crambrook had to be both aggressive and cautious, but fate played into his hands as Jane was forced wide at the first turn, dropping back down the order as Layton forged forward.
In the end the on-track action was furious, but both title contenders stayed clear of serious contact, Jane recording fifth outright, Crambrook eighth to gain his first V8 Ute title.
