PORSCHE SIGNALS COMMITMENT TO CARRERA CUP FOR 2009
4 February, 2009
Porsche has outlined it is committed towards ensuring that Carrera Cup Australia remains the premier support category to the V8 Supercar Championship Series.
A host of cars and drivers will line up for battle around the streets of Adelaide in Round 1 of the championship at the Clipsal 500 on March 22.
The 2008 Porsche Carrera Cup Champion, Craig Baird, is back to defend his title and will be joined by a host of regular and new drivers for season 2009.
V8 Supercar enduro specialist Warren Luff will debut in the championship with McElrea Racing in 2009 and is expected to lead the charge to knock Craig Baird from the top spot.
But, you can count on the fact that he won’t be the only one. David Wall, Barton Mawer, Rodney Jane and Nathan Caratti will all join Luff in looking for race and round wins in the coming season.
Last year’s Pilatus Challenge Champion will also defend his title this year.
After such a successful season in 2008 James Koundouris will be keen to keep the prestigious championship in his Supabarn Motorsport garage. It won’t be easy though and he can expect pressure from series regulars such as Mark Cini.
Porsche Carrera Cup Australia continues to be the premier support category to the V8 Supercar Championship Series and all key the stakeholders are looking forward to a successful 2009 Championship.
