[A1GP] Five year deal for Surfers Paradise
London, Great Britain – A1GP World Cup of Motorsport will be racing on one of the most exciting street circuits in the world when it returns to Australia for Season Five. The series has signed a five year deal with the organisers of the street circuit in Surfers Paradise and will go there in 2009 for its first race.
[A1GP] A1GP replaces IRL at Surfers!!
The A1GP series will replace the Indycar Series after discussions with IRL CEO Tony George and the promoters of the Queensland event broke down. Queensland Premier Anna Bligh today announced that an in-principal agreement has been met with the organisers of the A1GP to run their cars at Surfers Paradise for the next five years.

Australian Daniel Ricciardo’s (SG Formula) victory in the first race on the Barcelona circuit followed by second place in race no.2 in the final round of the season assured him of the first title in the Formula Renault West European Cup. Victory in the second race (last one of the season) went to his team-mate Andrea Caldarelli.

Daniel Ricciardo (SG Formula) made the most of the difficult conditions by achieving a good result and going for the remaining two pole positions of the season. The extra point for pole position took him to the top of the overall standings. The Australian may well be able to take advantage of the good performance put in by the all of the SG Formula drivers to claim the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. title.

[FR2.0] Ricciardo takes things in hand
Daniel Ricciardo (SG Formula) got off to a flying start for the last weekend of the season by setting the fastest time in collective testing. The Australian is full of confidence for qualifying on Saturday morning. His main rival, Valtteri Bottas (Motopark Academy) was also on the pace this morning but his second session was upset when he ran into the gravel trap.
